Consumer genetic testing has now reached a point where it is affordable to the individual user. However, patients’ valuable, private data is typically help by third-party organisations, which make money with this data without involving the donor.
Project Shivom has a different idea. Their goals are that as more users and patients get sequenced and get access to the amazing insights and treatments available because of this technology, they are able to own their data. With that they have the right to choose whether to donate that information to science or choose to be reimbursed for sharing data, all while the DNA data is maintained in the most safe and secure environment.
With this approach, patients and users can assume more responsibility over their genomic and healthcare data, and be able to make decisions about their disease predispositions and healthcare progress. We enable this by allowing users to gain valuable genomic information about themselves but also have the opportunity to share their data with relevant stakeholders when they need more guidance or would like to put that data to use.
